Simple Home Remedies - Dandruff

Dandruff

Skin renews itself by shedding the outer layer of cells. This is a normal process, but when there is a noticeable accumulation of dead skin cells on the scalp, we call it dandruff.

Mild dandruff is usually caused by excessively oily skin. It is easy to treat, and nobody should suffer the embarrassment of white shoulders.

Apple cider vinegar is good for many skin conditions, dandruff included. Use a 50/50 mixture of apple cider vinegar and water and use this to rinse your hair after shampooing. For more severe dandruff problems, a mixture of vinegar and water can be put on the scalp at night before bedtime. Wrap your hair with a towel to prevent staining your pillow, and then shampoo your hair as normal in the morning, again rinsing with the vinegar and water mixture. Do this at least once a week.

There are several pre-shampooing mixtures you can try. Boil 4 tablespoons of thyme in 2 cups of water for 10 minutes. Allow to cool, then apply it into your scalp and let it sit for about 30 minutes before washing your hair.

Soak fenugreek seeds in water overnight, and then grind the seeds into a paste. Apply this paste to your hair and leave it for about 20 minutes. Shampoo as usual.

Rub aloe vera gel into your hair about 20 minutes before shampooing. Rinse well.

All of these treatments can be followed by the apple cider vinegar and water mixture for rinsing the hair after shampooing.

Danderuff and Diet

Dandruff can be helped with a good diet. Drinking plenty of water, and eating lots of fresh vegetables and fruits will aid you in saying goodbye to dandruff forever.
