Simple Home Remedies - Scarring
Scarring
Scarring occurs when the skin is damaged. The damage may occur from burning, from an accident or from surgery. Scars can be disfiguring, and may be a painful reminder of a past event. They may draw unwanted attention, and they may itch or hurt. These are some of the many reasons for getting rid of scars.
It's important to keep in mind that scarring may diminish on its own over time. It may take a year after an accident or surgery for the scar to reach its final natural state. At that time, many scars are unnoticeable, but if the scarring remains visible and is causing discomfort, either emotional or physical, here are some things you can do to treat the scarring.
Cocoa butter can be used to massage the scarring. This will soften the tissue and promote blood circulation to the surrounding area. Do this regularly, at least once a day, until the scarring starts to disappear. Depending on the severity of the scar, this may take several months.
Other hydrating treatments that are good for scars include vitamin E creams and aloe vera gel. These may be mixed with various herbs that are associated with tissue regeneration.
Arnica Montana is an herb that grows in the mountains of Europe. It can be dried and powdered and applied to the skin mixed with either cocoa butter or aloe vera gel. Savine has similar properties to Arnica Montana and can be used in the same way to alleviate scarring.
Scar tissue is different from regular skin, and scars can never be completely removed. But with these techniques, you will be able to make scarring less obvious.
