Before we begin to cover ways to stop snoring, , let's discuss the possibility that you may have sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is a serious medical condition, which is potentially fatal. If you are overweight, have trouble breathing while you're sleeping, feel sleepy or confused while you're awake, have high blood pressure; these are signs of sleep apnea and you'd be be well-advised to consult your physician before reading further- To stop snoring lower your head by using either a single low pillow, or none at all. - Antihistamines as well as other medications increase the likelihood of snoring. Try to eliminate all antihistamines from you medicines. Consult your physician if necessary. If you require allergy medication make sure it is free of antihistamine.
- Try not to use sleeping pills, again, especially those containing antihistamine.
- Other options include surgery, using a radio fervency treatment, purchasing an oral device from your dentist, or trying a special sleeping mask designed to enhance breathing.
- Over-the-counter nasal strips are now available as well, which widen nasal passages and lower the possibility of snoring.
