Arthritis Symptoms:

What are the common signs and symptoms of arthritis that you would usually experience in this condition? Since there are numerous types of arthritis, the signs and symptoms may vary depending on the site it has affected. However, it mostly causes damage to the joints and bones; hence, there is quite a similarity with the symptoms an individual would experience.

• Joint pain usually occurs. This is due to the inflammation in the area, and with the constant grinding and contact of the joints, it would likely develop pain in the area affected.
• Pain and tenderness in the area especially upon movement.
• There is inflammation, which is usually associated with swelling of the area, stiffness in the joint, warm to touch, and redness.
• There is clearly a joint deformity. Usually seen and referred to as swan like deformities commonly seen in the fingers. There is the crooked deformity of the hands due to the calcification in between the bones.
• Loss of range of motion. The inability to move about most especially the degree of flexion and extension is altered.
• Unexplained weight loss.
• Extreme fatigue, body weakness, and body malaise are also present.
• Non-specific fever.
• Presence of crepitus upon percussion. The crepitus is a flat dull sound that is usually heard upon percussion of the bones, which is usually done during the assessment stage.

Arthritis Signs

There is a pain while lifting weight, walking and standing while some may have less or no inflammation at all. Stiffness in joints increases with clear indications of fever or chills. In case of rheumatoid arthritis, there is a swelling in legs and wrists on both the sides of the body. Indicator of gout arthritis is a sudden attack in any of the joint, most common place being the big toe. In juvenile arthritis (occurring in children) damage to the bone is a slow process and larger or smaller joints are normally affected along with high fever and rashes on body.
