Red Rash on Chest
Rashes are physical symptoms that cause skin redness, blotchiness and swelling on the affected area. A rash can be filled with pus and can appear flaky, scaly or bumpy and can come out anywhere in the body. When red rash on chest occurs, it can be due to a number of reasons. It can be because of a problem in the chest region or can be indicative of a systemic condition.

Red rashes on the chest have several possible reasons like autoimmune diseases, infections, allergic reaction, and others.
Autoimmune disorders such as systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and Kawasaki disease cause red rashes on chest region along with other symptoms.
Various infectious processes can lead to rashes in the chest and other areas of the body. These include strep throat, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, ringworm, meningitis, scarlet fever, rubella, roseola, mumps, measles, Lyme disease, impetigo, eczema, chickenpox and the like.
Contact dermatitis can be a triggering factor of rash on chest as well as other allergens like poison ivy, metallic elements, industrial substances found in plastic or rubber, and other cosmetic and detergent products. This can also be due to allergic reaction arising from insect bite, food allergy and eczema.
Other factors such as sunburn, stress, certain medications, breast infection, extreme temperatures and acne can also result to red rash on the chest.
How to Get Rid of Red Rash on Chest
Rashes on the chest are not often life-threatening unless they are due to a severe infection. These can last for some time and would eventually disappear without any treatment. However, the discomforts these bring like itchiness and skin dryness can be remedied.
Use of over-the-counter or non-prescription medications like antihistamines and anti-itch creams with camphor can bring relief to the itchiness and redness.
One can also use moisturizing lotions to prevent further skin damage due to dryness.
Those who are suffering from eczema or atopic dermatitis should obtain vaccination against smallpox, even if this condition is not active. This is because individuals suffering from such skin conditions are at risk of acquiring virus in the skin which can lead to a more serious health problem.
