Bone Spurs Causes | What Causes A Bone Spur

What are the reasons why bone spurs grow on some people? There are a number of causes for this problem and here are some of these possible causes:

  • One of the main reasons why the body develops bone spurs is when the body builds this extra bone as part of repairing itself. When this bone begins to grow, it is in response to certain rubbing, pressure, or stress that happens over a prolonged period of time in the area where the bone is growing.
  • Another reason why a bone spur grows is due to age. This growth that happens when a person ages is because of the wearing away of the cartilage in these bones and the repair that happens to compensate for the wearing away of the cartilage in these bones are these bone spurs.
  • Bone spurs in a person’s foot grow due to certain activities like running and dancing that result in tight ligaments. These can also grow in your feet if you are into wearing ill-fitting shoes or if you are overweight.
  • One of the culprits behind this problem is said to be the body’s inefficient absorption of calcium. Sometimes when a person lacks calcium intake, it may take the needed calcium from the bones, and this sucked-out calcium from one bone of your body then grows as a bone spur on some other bone in your body.
