What Is Chafing | Chaffed Skin Problem | Chafing of the Skin

Skin Chafing:

Have you ever experienced pain on your heels or in other parts of your feet that gets intense as you continue walking? Do you feel as if a part of the skin of your feet is being scraped? If so, then chances are, you are experiencing chafing. What exactly is chafing?
  • Chafing is a condition that results from frequent and excessive rubbing.
  • The most commonly affected part of the body is the feet area, especially the parts that come in contact with the footwear. Aside from the feet, other body parts where chafing is experienced is in the armpits, the neck areas, as well as in the legs.
  • While anyone may develop the problem, it is more frequent among obese people as well as in athletes. This is because the skin of obese people sags from the weight that makes them scrape with other body parts. On the other hand, because of constant motion among athletes, their skin keeps on rubbing against their outfit or with other body parts.
  • Although chafing is a result partially because of what one wears, there are instances when irritation and the problem persist. This is an instance wherein one will need to seek immediate medical attention. The best way is to remove the problem at its source.
