What is Colitis:
When you have an inflamed colon, you are experiencing the condition called colitis. There are many different types of colitis and reasons why the colon’s inner lining becomes inflamed. Here are some things you might want to know about colitis and the different kinds there are:- The many different types of colitis can range from bothersome to severe and very dangerous.
- One of the types of colitis that a person may experience is infectious colitis. This type of colitis is often caused by bacteria and viruses.
- Ischemic colitis is the kind of colitis where the arteries that bring blood to your colon are blocked. When this happens, the colon becomes inflamed. Usual victims of this kind of colitis are those people who have anemia, are in shock or are dehydrated.
- Ulcerative colitis is another problem that people may suffer from. This is just one of two inflammatory bowel problems that are considered types of colitis. Still an inflammatory bowel disease and Crohn’s disease.
- Microscopic colitis consists of two types of problems: the lymphocytic colitis and collagenous colitis. Both problems either involve collagen or lymphocytes in the colon wall.
- Chemical colitis is another type of colitis that people can suffer from.
