What Is Dark Skin?

A person who has dark skin is usually born with it. And while most people are used to having dark skin since they have been living with it since birth, there are people who want to have lighter skin. This may be due to the fact that some people view lighter-skinned individuals as more attractive or more appealing. Here are a few more facts about dark skin:
  • Some people may be born with lighter skin, but they find that their skin is darkening due to certain elements and events that cause this.
  • A lot of people spend a lot of money just to get themselves to look whiter or fairer. Some of these people undergo certain chemical procedures like peels and injections to get their skin to become fairer and to make them feel more beautiful.
  • Melanin is actually the pigment that makes skin look darker. People who have dark skin often have more of this pigment in their skin, which is why they are darker than their fair skinned counterparts.
  • Dark skin is also inherent with certain races. Some races and cultures have naturally dark skin but wish to become whiter for one reason or another.
  • Most of those who wish to have fairer skin are women.
