Natural Cures for Diarrhea | Natural Remedy for Diarrhea Problem
Home Remedies for Diarrhea:
Most cases of diarrhea require only rest and refraining from eating foods that are difficult to digest such as meat. Moreover, drinking enough water to restore body fluids is a must to make sure that the body does not verge on dehydration. However, when diarrhea affects children, the condition takes a special significance because conventional approaches at treating the disease will usually not work under such situations. What is needed is a special treatment. The following are some of the common home treatment for diarrhea:
For infants:
- Give an infant with a bottle of water frequently. If dehydration is a risk, try giving rice water. Although it may not really cure the infection, it will allow the child to absorb water, thus keeping dehydration at bay.
- Rest is needed by children who vomit or who has fever and frequent stools.
- Avoid strenuous activities as these are likely to exacerbate dehydration, causing greater damages.
- Eat only the so-called BRAT foods (banana, rice, applesauce, and toast). This is an age-tested home cure for diarrhea. On the other hand, if nausea accompanies diarrhea, suck on ice chunks to eliminate the nauseating feeling.
- Drink plenty of water and other liquids. However, avoid milk as this is likely to increase the chances of infection.
