Vitiligo or leucoderma is actually a skin ailment that can be embarrassing to the person who has it since it makes his skin look patchy and uneven. This problem can be seen all over a person’s skin and is characterized by white areas of skin all over you body. Here are a few more details about vitiligo or leucoderma:
  • This ailment is more of an aesthetic problem than anything else since it does not cause a person any harm to his organs or other body parts.
  • Leucoderma is a skin problem that is not contagious and is non-infectious.
  • This is sometimes called birthmarks since they can be present at birth. Some of these spots develop later on in life though.
  • The term leucoderma aptly describes the condition since this means “to have white skin.” This whitening of the skin is called de-pigmentation.
