Symptoms of Lice | Signs of Head Lice, Body Lice and Pubic Lice
Lice Symptoms:
Depending where the lice are found, symptoms may vary. There are quite a number of common symptoms that each type of lice infestations have, and this is the itchiness that their bite brings to the person. A person may itch in the areas where these creatures are, i.e., in the scalp when head lice is present, parts of the body when body lice is present, and in the pubic area when pubic lice or crabs are the problem.- Other symptoms you can expect from these different lice types include small bumps that turn red or crusty and infected in the areas that they inhabit. This means that you may find little red lesions on your scalp, in your pubic area, and on your body where the lice reside. These lesions may produce pus or become watery if infected.
- Another telltale sign of lice are the nits or eggs that the female louse lays. These nits can be easily seen when you are dealing with head lice and pubic lice, but most body louse lay their eggs in the folds of unwashed clothing and may go unnoticed. Sometimes these body lice may lay their eggs on your body hair.
