One of the things you can do when you want to avoid sore throats is to try and avoid the ailments that can cause them. Abusing your throat by smoking, drinking alcohol, and exposing yourself to elements that can cause you a sore throat should also be avoided.

  • Another way you can avoid getting a sore throat is by trying to sleep with your mouth closed. Usually, people who sleep on their backs sleep with their mouth open. Also, people who sleep with their heads lower than their necks find themselves with the same predicament. Try to sleep with your head slightly higher than your shoulders and your neck to prevent you from sleeping with your mouth open and to prevent you from getting a sore throat from the dryness that develops.
  • Try to avoid people who have coughs, colds, and the flu for you to avoid getting a sore throat due to these illnesses. Other ailments that can cause sore throats include strep throat so if someone in your family has this ailment, have them treated for it and sterilize the utensils and glasses that the patient used recently to avoid the spread of the bacteria.
