Facial Warts
Facial warts are a common form of skin problems among both adolescents and adults. These are characterized as tiny, colored elevations on the skin. These may appear as clusters of skin cell growth, much like other demarcations on the skin surface. Although facial warts do not pose any significant harm, appearance may be unsightly and these may cause to infect surrounding skin areas.
Facial Warts Causes
Warts are medically termed as verrucae. These are common, benign skin tumors often caused by a viral infection. Causes of facial warts include:
- Contact. As such, facial warts are contagious and can be passed on to another person via direct skin contact.
- Improper hygiene. Touching the face without hand washing can lead to formation of warts and other facial skin problems.
- Squeezing warts. Scratching, picking, or squeezing present warts would only lead to the production of more elevations. These easily spread and multiply on the skin.
Facial Warts Removal
Some effective methods of wart removal can be done at home. These include the use of the following:
- Pumice stone. A small pumice stone can be rubbed lightly against the affected area. It works by filing the dead surface of the blemishes.
- Onion. When placed on the skin, onion extracts work by stimulating blood flow.
- Dandelion. The sap can be applied two to three times per day on the affected area.
- Marigold. Leaves made into a thick paste can be used as a facial cream.
- Castor oil. Application of a thin layer of oil on the skin surface can be done at night. For individuals to maximize its clearing effect, castor oil should be used continuously for months until facial warts are removed.
- Figs. Juice of fresh figs can be applied directly on the warts. Dabbing of the juice with the use of cotton ball should be pursued several times a day for two weeks.
- Potato. Raw potatoes should be cut into cubes and rubbed on the skin surface for two weeks.
