Reactive airway disease in children is a vague terminology that indicates a host of other diseases like bronchitis, asthma, pneumonia, etc. These may not be easily diagnosed in children, and hence, the doctors refer to the symptoms as reactive airway disease

Reactive Airway Disease in Babies’ Symptoms
- The commonest symptom is wheezing
- Breathing becomes rapid and shallow, there will be gasping for breath
- Children may also suffer from chest retractions.
- Coughing accompanying the symptoms
- There may also be nasal discharge, headaches, sensing and flaring of the nostrils
- Children become very irritable and cranky.
- Occasionally, there may be fever.
Reactive Airway Disease in Kid’s Treatment
- The doctor will prescribe medications that help ameliorate the symptoms.
- Nasal decongestants may be administered.
- Asthma medications need to be given.
- It is very important to keep children away from fumes, smoke and allergens.
- Also, ensure that you give the child loads of vitamin C rich foods. Vitamin C fights infections and strengthens the immune mechanism appreciably.
