A missed period triggers a lot of alarm and anxiety. There are several factors that could cause you to miss your periods. The following are the commonly occurring causes, apart from pregnancy.
Causes for Missed Period Other Than Pregnancy
- Stress: emotional turmoil, strain and psychological stress can make one miss the period.
- Illness: falling sick can cause periods to be delayed. However, this is by and large temporary and the normalcy returns.

- Menopause: Menopause, or when you no longer menstruate or ovulate is manifested as missed menses. Menopause occurs naturally at around 45 to 50 years, or may occur surgically, due to a hysterectomy or through chemotherapy.
