My age is 52. I used to smoke 2 packets of cigarettes in a day for last 15 years. But I have quit smoking since two years. Lately I am feeling tightness in my chest, especially after eating at night or after bowel movements. Is it a cause of worry? Can you suggest any home remedy?

As per the symptoms, it is necessary to rule out cardiac cause. You have strong history of smoking. Therefore, blood test for cholesterol, triglyceride, low density cholesterol, X-ray chest, Electrocardiogram and Tread mill test are of prime importance. However, your doctor is the right person to suggest tests and investigations after examining you. You have to consult your doctor as early as you can.

From the description that you have made, it seems you are having reflux acid problem. You also have to rule out cardiac causes such as coronary artery disease. Consult a good ENT surgeon and a cardiologist to rule out both the causes.
