Sore Muscles For No Reason: Simple Remedies For Muscle Soreness

While you may complain of soreness of muscles especially after  spending a few hours at the gym or enjoying a game of basketball with your buddies, there are some occasions when you could complain of soreness of muscles for no apparent reason.

You will be experiencing pain in your arms, your abs, your shoulders, and you might even find it difficult to do a little stretching.

What Are The Causes Of Sore Muscles?

Sore muscles for no reason are not actually accurate. When your muscles are feeling sore and tensed, the causes for this may be any of the following:

  • Strenuous exercise or workout which is not a part of the individual’s routine activities. This can be due to heavy working or overload in day to day routine activities.
  • Past injuries can also be associated with muscle soreness.
  • Aging is an important contributing factor to soreness of muscles.
  • Dietary insufficiencies like skipping a meal can also result in soreness of muscles.
  • Nutritional deficiencies, especially proteins and essential amino acids can also lead to soreness of muscles.
  • Certain autoimmune disorders like myasthenia gravis, rheumatoid arthritis can also be associated with soreness and tiredness of muscles.
  • In addition, faulty posture while sitting or sleeping can also result in soreness of muscles.
  • Excessive smoking or consumption of alcohol can also be associated with muscle soreness. Smoking reduces oxygen concentration of blood, while alcohol results in breakdown of proteins, both of which result in muscle soreness.

Home Remedies For Muscle Soreness

To remedy your sore muscles, the following tips should help:

  • Get a warm water bath. The warm water should make it easier for your veins to relax and increase the blood flow to the sore muscles. Increased blood flow means better supply of nutrients and oxygen to the muscles, which in turn rejuvenates and revitalizes the muscle tissue.
  • Get plenty of rest. This should give your muscles enough time to recuperate from the tearing that may have caused the soreness.
  • Slow stretching is also helpful to get the stiffness out from the affected areas.
  • Get the proper diet. Make sure you’re taking in the right nutrition that helps rebuild those torn muscles. Ensure that your diet is rich in proteins. Include lean meat, eggs, legumes, pulses, etc in your diet. These foods are packed with essential amino acids, which act as building blocks for the muscle tissue.
  • Maintain an erect posture while sitting and also ensure that your posture is correct while going to bed. Avoid using soft bed cushion, which can affect the posture of the spine and cause muscle soreness.
  • Homeopathic drugs like Bryonia and Rhus Tox are also considered to be beneficial in the management of sore muscles. Bryonia is often indicated in cases of soreness which is associated with severe stiffness and limited mobility, while Rhus Tox is recommended in rheumatic conditions.
  • Avoid smoking and limit the intake of alcohol.
