Shaky hands are condition that occurs to anyone, healthy or not. Though there are several reasons as to why this happens, there is no known cause to some individuals. The usual cause of this is a significant tremor which usually has a genetic predisposition but benign in nature.

Shaky hands can happen along with certain situations that affect the hands or those that involve the entire body like generalized disorders in the central nervous system or the neuromuscular system. Among the common disorders that lead to shaky hands are multiples sclerosis, hyperthyroidism and Parkinson’s disease.

This problem can also be brought about by intake or withdrawal of certain substances and medication like caffeine and alcohol. This can also be due to conditions stimulating the nervous system like fear, anger or anxiety. Furthermore, aging, low sugar levels in the blood can also cause this symptom.

  • Cutting back on caffeine-containing drinks such as tea and coffee, helps reduce hand tremors. This is because caffeine stimulates muscle movement and nerve functions.

  • Involving in physiotherapy activities helps in achieving muscle control movement and coordination.

  • Doing mild weight lifting exercises can aid in alleviating shaky hands for sufferers. Doing this can help in achieving coordination and boosting the strength of hand and arm muscles.
