Nasolabial Fold Correction
There are several procedures that can be done to correct nasolabial fold that usually becomes more visible due to aging. These procedures include the following:
-
Injecting artificial fillers. This is considered as the most common procedure that works by pushing the visible folds outward making it less visible.
-
Mid facelift can help in correcting folds and lift surrounding cheeks. Patients should take note that facelifts is not necessary for these folds especially when there are no other parts of the face that needs lifting.
-
A tiny cheek implant that is positioned in the submalar region or the area below the cheekbone can help in softening the upper part of the folds. This procedure is considered a permanent one.
-
Fat Grafting. Own fats of the body is harvested and then injected to the folds.
-
APTOS Thread Lift. This process utilizes blue cogged sutures to run into lines in the face and then anchoring it to tissues making the folds look like it has been lifted out.
-
For deep and very visible folds, excisions can be used. The process involves numbing the affected area with anesthesia, removing the folds, and then suturing the area.
Nasolabial Fold Facial Exercises
-
Tilt back head and look towards the ceiling while sitting comfortably in a chair. Bring the lips together just like forming a kiss and extend it upward. Hold the position for 15 seconds and do the whole process again four times and two times in a day.
-
Place middle and index finger of the two hands on both sides of the corners of the mouth. Pull the skin backward and stretch it towards the ears. Hold it while puckering the mouth into a pouting position for 15 seconds. This process should be repeated for 10 times.
-
Let the index finger of both hands stick in the corners of the mouth and start pulling them apart. This makes the mouth stretch to about a fourth of an inch. Hold this position for more than ten seconds and at the same time tightening the muscles around the mouth. The process should be repeated 50 times daily.
