Pressure on Bladder
Feeling of bladder pressure is not caused by a single condition. Thorough evaluation has to be done to determine the actual reason for this in an individual. It can arise from the bladder itself or because of a condition outside the bladder. Issues like infection, interstitial cystitis, or overactive bladder syndrome can be reasons for bladder pressure.
Associated symptoms of bladder infection aside from pressure on bladder are lower back pain, blood in the urine and fever. When suffering from overactive bladder syndrome, a person would feel urgency to urinate. Those with interstitial cystitis feel bladder pressure and fullness aside from pain when urinating.
Structures on the external of the bladder such as the uterus, intestines and ovaries can also cause pressure on the bladder. Ovarian cyst, uterine fibroid or constipation can lead to bladder pressure and other symptoms.
What Causes Pressure on Bladder
A number of urinary health conditions can result to pressure and discomfort in the bladder. Specifically, these are:
- Cystitis or inflammation of the bladder results to heaviness not only in the bladder but also in the pelvic region.
- Protatitis or the inflammation of the prostate gland is a commonly occurring condition in men resulting from bacterial invasion in the prostate. The prostate gland lies directly under the bladder and can become irritated with bacteria.
- Fibroids in the uterus result to discomfort in the bladder area. These are tumor structures that form within the uterine lining. Since the bladder is closely located to the bladder, when the uterus is affected, it also affects the bladder, causing urinary problems.
- Other related causes of this condition include bladder diverticulum and endometriosis.
How to Relieve Pressure on the Bladder
To ease pressure on bladder symptoms, there are simple remedies one can do.
- Avoid drinking too much fluid. When the bladder becomes full it leads to pressure. Make a drinking schedule and log it down on a sheet of paper.
- After consuming a liquid, use toilet. This would provide relief by emptying the bladder.
- Go to restroom on a scheduled interval all day long. One can do so every two hours in order to minimize pressure by emptying the urinary bladder on a regular basis.
- Have a healthy weight to reduce pressure on the bladder area, as excess weight can give force to one’s bladder.
