Anorexia nervosa, popularly known as anorexia, is a psychological illness that often occurs among female teenagers, wherein she rejects or refuses to take food for a long period of time.
Reasons Why Some Women Are Anorexic
Most person who were diagnosed as anorexic would declare that it all started from a simple dieting to total rejection of food.
- Unexplainable fear of gaining weight. A person with anorexia usually feels that they are fat when in fact they are very thin.
- Self-dissatisfaction. A person feels heavy when in fact her weight is much lower than her normal body mass weight. Because of this, she will skip meals for a day or two, then the next day, and the day after that until it will become an addiction.
- Surrounding environment. One common reason also is the influence of mass media.
- Depression. Another reason why one has become anorexic is because of depression. There are some persons who address their depression by eating. However, for some other people, depression makes them feel lazy to do things such as to wake up in bed, to go to work, and even to eat. A repetitive skipping of meals would often lead to addiction.
