Arthritis is one of the most common ailments that affect humans, especially older adults. This ailment involves inflammation of the joints in one or many areas of the body.

There are many different kinds of arthritis, including osteoarthritis, gout, rheumatoid arthritis, and juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Arthritis can also occur as a side effect or secondary symptom of other diseases, such as in Lyme disease, sarcoidosis, and hepatitis.

Recommended Diet For Arthritic Sufferers

  • Eat raw or cooked celery.
  • Eat fresh pineapple slices every day. Another alternative is to drink 1 cup of pineapple juice daily.
  • Take a teaspoon of molasses and red pepper several times a day.
  • Linden flower tea will also bring much relief.
  • Eating garlic – raw or cooked – can help in preventing bouts of arthritis.
  • Bananas are also rich in vitamin B6 which can help in preventing and easing the pain from arthritis.
  • Try to stick to a diet that is rich in green leafy vegetables and other foods rich in vitamins.
  • Eat more foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, such as cold water oily fish like sardines and herring.

Drinks For Arthritis

  • Drink chamomile flower, dandelion root, sweet fern, rosemary leaf, or horsemint teas before bed time; drink hot.
  • Mix ½ cup of carrot, celery, and red beet juices with ½ cup of any green leafy vegetable. Drink this regularly.
  • Drink eight ounces a day of sarsaparilla and licorice root tea; drink cold with a touch of honey.

Foods To Avoid Arthritis

  • There are certain foods that can trigger arthritis. These are foods rich in purines, such as liver and sardines.
  • Reduce intake of red meats.

Home Treatment for Arthritis Joint Pain

  • Apply a warm cloth that has been soaked in boiled apple cider vinegar on area of pain.
  • Lay a cloth soaked in alcohol on affected area; also good for mild headaches.
  • Mix apple cider vinegar and the whites of 12 eggs. Apply on painful areas.
  • Rub on olive oil and cayenne pepper mixed. Eating cayenne will also help internally.
  • Rub sassafras oil, spearmint oil, and olive oil on painful areas.
  • Arthritis is affected by temperature, with cold temperatures causing more pain in the joints. Thus, hot packs placed on top of the affected areas can easily help alleviate the pain.
  • Soaking in a tub of warm or hot water can also help soothe the aches and pains caused by arthritis.
