Does Aspirin and Honey Really Help in Treating Acne?

Aspirin and Acne

Aspirin, is commonly used as an analgesic to provide relief and treat mild to moderate pain. It can also be used as an anti-inflammatory drug and as antipyretic for the reduction of fever. Recently, the drug is now being used for aesthetic purposes, most especially in the treatment of acne-prone skin.

While there are many medicines used to treat acne, the use of aspirin is a good way of getting rid of acne. Given that aspirin contains acetylsalicylic acid that happens to be found in most acne-treating products, aspirin certainly has a significant role in acne treatment. Moreover, the use of aspirin in the treatment of acne has no significant side effects on the skin unlike some drugs that may frequently cause irritations and infections.

Aspirin and Acne Treatment Remedy

The aspirin and acne treatment can be done in a number of ways. Two of the most common ways of aspirin-acne treatment are the following:

  • Aspirin Facial Wash: This is done by crushing an aspirin tablet into a fine powder and mixing it with water to dilute so it could have the right consistency of a facial rinse.

Thoroughly rinse the face or affected area with the mixture, rub gently to allow the aspirin particle to infiltrate the pores and exfoliate the skin. Rinse skin with warm water afterwards.

  • Aspirin Facial Mask: Is done by crushing at least 2 to 4 aspirin tablets and adding just enough water to make a thick paste. Cover the entire face or the acne area with the paste for at least 10 to 15 minutes. The mask will then begin to peel after 10 to 15 minutes, indicating that it is time to rinse. Be sure to rinse well with warm water. This can only be applied once a week so as to prevent dry skin.

How to Make a Honey and Aspirin Mask

Other than just using plain aspirin for acne treatment, adding natural ingredients can also give your mixture an added enhancement. Below is an easy-to-make honey-aspirin mixture.

  • Add honey to the mixture and stir.

  • Apply the mixture to a clean face and scrub gently.

  • Let the mask sit for about 15 minutes.

  • Rinse well with warm water once done.
