Preventing Canker Sores | How to Prevent Canker Sores Inside Mouth

Canker Sores Prevention

When you are prone to canker sores, you might want to exercise some preventive measures to help you avoid the frequent return of these painful sores. Here are some canker sores preventing measures you might want to try:

  • Since canker sores are sometimes caused by a lack of some nutrients in your system, taking supplements to increase these in your body may help reduce the possibility of recurring canker sores. You might want to take vitamin B12, folic acid, and iron supplements to help prevent these sores from erupting if you lack these nutrients in your body.
  • Chewing your food carefully is another way you can avoid canker sores. Biting your tongue or the inside of your cheek may happen if you are eating too fast. Chewing your food properly and slowly will help you decrease the chances of canker sores developing from biting yourself.
  • If at all possible, avoid certain foods and substances that may cause canker sores to erupt. You might also want to avoid chewing gum since the chewing action can actually cause you to accidentally bite the inside of your mouth or your tongue.
  • Some people are allergic to some of the ingredients that are found in some toothpastes and mouthwashes. If you find that you develop canker sores from certain mouth products, discontinue using these products.
