Common Cold Home Remedy

When you have a cold, you very well know that there is no known cure yet for this ailment. There are home treatments however that you can use when are suffering from this problem and these home remedies can help ease the discomfort you feel when you have a cold.

  • Garlic and onions may give a person rather strong-smelling breath but they are actually very good for helping relieve common cold. Simply combine a few drops of garlic oil and some onion juice with water and drink this a few times a day to help ease your cold.
  • Fresh ginger tea is also a good remedy for common cold. Peel, cut, and boil a piece of ginger root in some water and wait till the water turns yellowish. Cool this down a bit and mix with a little bit of honey. Best when taken while still a bit warm.
  • For sore throat that comes with you cold, one of the easiest home remedies around is to make some warm salt water and gargle with it.
    Just dissolve some salt in hot water and wait for it to cool down a bit. Gargle with this to ease your aching throat.
  • Make your own saline nasal spray to clear out your congested and virus infested nasal passages. Just mix a quarter of a teaspoon each of baking soda and salt with eight ounces of water. It is better if you use warm water. Use a bulb syringe or a Neti pot to gently spray this mixture up you nasal passages.

Common Cold Cure

For treating common cold, saltwater can be dropped in the nose which helps in relieving congested nose and taking hot water steam or warm bath aids in soothing aches and improves breathing.

Other solutions are hot fomentation, intake of warm milk by adding roasted asafetida. Consuming mixture of curd, jiggery and black pepper twice in a day is a good natural cure for cold. Treatment for common cold in children can be done by increasing fluid intake and clearing nose using a bulb syringe.
