The ears regularly produce ear wax as part of its defense against infections and dirt. The ear wax traps dirt and slows down the growth of bacteria. It is quite possible to use home remedies to treat blockage caused by hardened ear wax. Try the following steps at home:
- Lie on one side, with the affected ear located at the top portion.
- Soften the ear wax by adding a few drops of mineral oil, baby oil, hydrogen peroxide, or glycerin into the affected ear. This should be done twice a day for about 4 to 5 days.
- Use a rubber bulb syringe to irrigate the ear canal with warm water to remove the now-softened ear wax.
- Gently dry the ears with a towel.

- Blockage of the ear canal can cause a variety of problems and complications, including deafness and infections. To prevent this from happening, treatment should be applied as soon as possible.
- Always remember not to dig out the hardened ear wax as this could cause permanent damage to the ear drums.
