Frequent numbness is experienced by individuals as they start aging. Numbness is commonly experienced in the hands and the feet.   • Increase the intake of fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables. These foods are rich in Vitamins and Minerals like calcium and magnesium which are essential for nerve health. Avoid processed and refined foods; these foods interfere with the absorption of vital nutrients by the body.
  • Patients suffering from chronic conditions like diabetes tend to suffer from polyneuropathies which may manifest in the form of numbness in the extremities. Include herbs like cinnamon and saffron in your diet. Cinnamon helps reduce blood sugar levels and thereby controls diabetes while saffron has beneficial effect on the nerves.
  • Regular exercising and changing your position frequently prevents undue pressure on the nerves and reduces the incidence of tingling and numbness in the extremities.
  • Avoid tobacco, alcohol and tea. These foods contain stimulants which tend to overload the nervous system and reduce the efficient utilization of neuronal enzymes which can also be responsible for numbness.
