What Is Indigestion
Indigestion is a condition wherein there is impaired digestion due to certain conditions or problems being experienced by the digestive system. This could be in response to stress, eating too much than the digestive system can handle, and even ailments. This is a very common problem, with most people experiencing this at one point in their lives.
Indigestion is also called dyspepsia or upset stomach. The patient often experiences pain in the upper abdomen as well as feeling that he or she has eaten more than he or she is capable of holding in the stomach. Oftentimes, the ailment is accompanied by other symptoms. Such symptoms include heartburn, nausea, bloating, and belching.
If indigestion occurs regularly, it is important that the patient seek medical attention. The reason for this is that there could already be a serious underlying medical cause that the patient is experiencing. For instance, the patient may have peptic ulcer disease which causes him or her to feel the above-mentioned symptoms plus other symptoms like unexplained and unintentional weight loss.
Natural Cure For Dyspepsia
There is no need for the patient to suffer for prolonged periods of time because he/she has indigestion. The following are some of the tested natural remedies for indigestion:
- Mix 1 teaspoon each of lemon juice, mint juice, and honey. Stir well. Drink this every day.
- Before eating meals, drink a glass of water with a few drops of lemon or apple cider vinegar.
- Boil leaves of blackberry, raspberry, mint, and chamomile to make a tea. Drink this at least once a day. The tea is best taken while it is still hot.
- Massage the stomach with a mixture of a half cup of soya oil with 3 drops of garlic oil. This is best in giving relief from abdominal pain.
- Drink a glass of fresh pineapple juice after every meal.
- Add a tablespoon of lemon juice, a tablespoon of ginger, and two tablespoons of honey to a glass of lukewarm water. Mix well. Drink this every day to cure upset stomach.
- Put a tablespoon of lemon juice in a cup of hot water. Drink this preparation before meals.
- After meals, one may apply ice cubes on the stomach.
- Mix equal parts of baking soda and water in a glass. This is great in providing relief from dyspepsia.
- Add a pinch of salt to a teaspoon of fresh coriander leaf juice and drink it twice a day.
