Mononucleosis Causes:
The main cause of mononucleosis or mono is the Epstein-Barr virus or EBV. When a person gets infected with EBV, he can expect to see symptoms of the ailment surface within a few hours of being infected. Sometimes, another virus like the cytomegalovirus causes a similar ailment. This virus also brings about similar symptoms and stays in the infected person’s body for the rest of his life.
- Most of the people who get this virus often get it at a young age and this is often due to indiscriminate kissing and relations with mostly anyone they like or take a liking to. Usually, the contraction of this disease happens during a person’s teen years to young adulthood due to the constant interaction youngsters have with others in the dating aspects.
- A lot of college students get this disease the first year they are in campus. Usually around 1 percent to 3 percent of students that are in college contract this ailment every year.
- A person may not know that the person they are kissing is a carrier of this ailment since the carrier usually becomes immune to it once they have experienced the ailment’s symptoms when they first got it.
