  • Soil to human: Rarely, ringworm spreads due to contact with infected soil.

You are at a very high risk if you:

  • Live in damp and crowded conditions.
  • Are less than 15 years of age.
  • Are in close proximity with an infected person or animal.
  • Share clothing or towels with an infected individual.
  • Wear very tight clothes.
  • Take part in sports which have skin-to-skin contact.
  • Have a weakened immune mechanism.

  • Characteristically, the rash starts as a flat scaly area which may be red and scratchy.
  • A raised border develops which tends to expand outwards forming a round ring. The contours of the ring resemble a worm.
  • The inside of the ring is clear; and most people have several rings at the same time and may overlay.

Home Remedies To Get Rid Of Ringworm On Arm

Follow these easy guidelines to get rid of ringworm easily:

  • Wash the arm well with soap and hot water, and dry thoroughly. Make sure you do it several times in the day.
  • Apply an anti-fungal cream beyond the edge of the rash. Clean and reapply several times in the whole day. Follow the directions on the cream precisely. Do not stop using the cream just because your symptoms have faded. Continue as written on the package. You will need to continue applying the cream for about 4 weeks.
  • In case there is there no improvement at all after 2 weeks, it is essential that you consult a doctor.
  • If the infection does not clear after you have tried different topical anti-fungals, you will have to take prescription anti-fungal drugs to clear up the case successfully.
  • Garlic is an excellent home remedy for ringworm. Garlic is a very powerful anti-fungal herb. Chew 3 to 5 raw flakes of garlic daily for about 2 months, even after the rash has cleared up.
  • Turmeric is another potent remedy. Make a paste of powdered turmeric with water and apply over the affected area; leave overnight.
  • Tea tree essential oil is highly medicinal aroma oil. In fact it is a strong anti-fungal that has been proved to be decidedly effective in the management of the most stubborn cases of ringworm.
