What Causes Scurvy Disease

Scurvy is a medical condition caused by a deficiency in vitamin C. It is also caused by malabsorption of this vitamin in the body even with that patient taking it within the recommended daily allowance.

Patients who are most susceptible to developing scurvy are infants who are weaned from breast milk, children who are picky with food, and people who are not getting enough vitamin C because of work or living conditions, such as sailors, prisoners, homeless, etc.
