  • Vitamin A beyond normal levels poses negative effects in the body, including peeling in the skin.

  • Other skin problems that lead to this condition include scarlet fever, Kawasaki disease, ichtyosis, psoriasis, hand eczema, and exfoliative dermatitis.

The mode of treatment for this skin condition depends on the actual cause. If this has been caused by bacterial infection, then the use of antibiotics or steroids can treat it. There are as well other remedies to minimize excessive peeling in the skin, including the following:

  • Balanced and nutritious diet: The skin gains nourishment when the body is supplied with sufficient amounts of fats, carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins and minerals. Since skin peeling could be a result of vitamin deficiency, there must be adequate vitamins and nutrients in the body.

  • Proper skin care: To maintain the health and moisture of the skin, a person has to consume more than 2 liters of water daily. Applying a good skin moisturizer can also be beneficial. The use of sun block creams helps in minimizing skin dryness when exposed to the sun. Also, it helps to avoid the use of skin products with harsh substances. Eating foods rich in iron like raisins, rice, peas, beans, broccoli and almonds nourishes the skin.

  • Cucumber remedy: Grated cucumber when applied to the affected skin can effectively moisturize it.
