Gynecomastia or Male Breast Surgery Cost and Recover Time

Some males suffer from a condition called gynecomastia. At some point in their adolescent lives, males will develop gynecomastia or enlarged male breasts. After the point of adolescence, this usually resolves but for others, the condition stays. Gynecomastia Surgery Recovery Time

  • Surgery can be performed on an outpatient basis.

  • The patient will need to stay one to two hours in the hospital prior to being released to allow recovery from the anesthesia.

  • Slight discomfort or minimal pain likened to sore muscles after a workout is expected after surgery.

  • Bandages or compression garments need to be worn after the surgery and kept in place for a specific period to help the breasts heal.

  • Patients can return to work when he feels capable.

  • Strenuous exercise or activity is prohibited for up to three weeks.

  • Patients are still advised to stay active during the recovery process.

  • Results can be best appreciated after several weeks and after removal of the compression garment or bandage.
