TMJ or temporomandibular joint disorder is characterized by various symptoms such as difficulty and pain when opening and closing the mouth. And doing this comes with a popping and clicking sound. Dizziness is also one of the symptoms of TMJ syndrome. TMJ dizziness signifies a more complicated problem. And in a severe case, the TMJ syndrome can eventually lead to hearing loss if left untreated.
Discovering TMJ
Some people dismiss experiencing TMJ because it seems like a trivial amount of pain. However, these are some methods that one can spot TMJ when it is present:
- Tooth pain
- Sensitive teeth

- Jaw falls back to one side whenever opening.
TMJ and Dizziness Causes
There are theories that explain some of the possible causes of TMJ dizziness, these are the following:
- The temporomandibular joint is located just in front of the ear. And the middle ear is the part of the ear that is responsible for the balance of individuals.
- With TMJ syndrome, the sternocleidomastoid muscle can get out of control. This muscle is also a part of the balance of a person. When not in good condition, it also results in dizziness.
- There is also a fine bone or ligament that is connected to the TMJ and the middle portion of the ear on each of its sides. When the syndrome is present, it is accompanied with dizziness because the middle ear is affected once again.

Surgery:
- Total Dental Reconstruction is a process in which the teeth are ground to ensure a perfect bite.
- In the TMJ surgery, the joint is opened and the disc that does not have its proper position will be replaced.
- Before any procedure is done, provisional or interim treatment is given to ensure the position of the neuromuscular occlusion.
