Sleeping Pill Overdose
Sleeping pills induce sleep. However, the pills are habit forming, and make you addicted. The body’s tolerance for the pills increases, and thus you end up taking large and larger doses. Consequently, this results in a sleeping pill overdose. 3 or more sleeping pills leads to a host of side effects, and may even become life threatening.
Sleeping Pill Overdose Symptoms
The following are the manifestations of an over dose of sleeping pills:
- Disorientation
- Instability
- Slurring of speech
- Vomiting
- Seizures, convulsions, tremors
- Diminished blood pressure
- Giddiness
- Confusion
- Unconsciousness
Sleeping Pill Overdose Side Effects
An over dose can have harsh and detrimental effects on the body. Some of these side effects may withdraw, over a period of time. On the other hand, other can be life threatening.
- A cut off of the blood supply from the heart to the brain
- Sudden death
- Development of cardiovascular diseases
- Cancer
- Brain damage
- Kidney damage
- Liver damage
- Gastric ulcerations
- Poor judgment
- Incoherent, slurred speech
- Disorientation
- Confusion
- Development of allergies and other reactions
- Parasomnia
- Poor memory, memory lapses and poor concentration
Sleeping pills do not cure insomnia; it only makes you highly dependant.
